Abstract

This study aims to understand the social dynamics of autistic children and the implementation of pastoral counseling services using a humanistic approach at Panti Sosial Disabilitas Victoria. Focusing on the experiences and needs of autistic children and their families, this research provides in-depth insights into how a humanistic approach can impact their well-being and development. The methodology includes in-depth interviews with parents, caregivers, and counselors, observations of interactions at the facility, and analysis of documentation related to autism and pastoral counseling. The findings reveal that factors such as genetic, biological, and environmental causes influence the social dynamics of autistic children and that a humanistic approach in pastoral counseling can significantly improve the quality of life for autistic children and provide emotional and spiritual support to their families. The conclusion is that integrating a humanistic approach in pastoral counseling is effective in addressing the challenges faced by autistic children and their families and in fostering a more inclusive and empathetic community. This research is beneficial for developing more adaptive and comprehensive pastoral counseling practices in the context of autism.
