MENGHADAPI DAMPAK PUPUK DAN PESTISIDA: Kepemimpinan Pastoral dalam Mendorong Pertanian Ramah Lingkungan

This study aims to explore the role of pastoral leadership in promoting environmentally friendly agricultural practices amid ecological challenges caused by the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. The research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, involving in-depth interviews and participatory observations with pastoral leaders and farmers in Sumompo Kapleng, Manado. The findings reveal that pastoral leaders play a significant role in shaping the ecological awareness of their congregations by integrating faith teachings, environmental ethics, and direct practice. The concept of eco-pastoral, which combines the values of pastoral theology with ecological principles, proves to be an effective approach in building a spirituality that values the preservation of creation. In this context, pastoral leaders act as facilitators of change, motivating farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices such as the use of organic fertilizers and conservation techniques. This study emphasizes the importance of training, education, and cross-sector collaboration to strengthen the capacity of pastoral leadership in addressing environmental issues contextually and transformatively. Thus, the eco-pastoral approach can serve as a strategic model in environmental conservation and community well-being rooted in spirituality.
