Martabat Perempuan: Refleksi Amsal 31:10-31 dalam Bingkai Kesetaraan Gender

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dignity of women based on Proverbs 31:10–31 within the framework of gender equality and to provide a theological contribution in addressing the ongoing issue of gender discrimination. The research is beneficial in strengthening the understanding of the church and the Christian community that women hold an equal and honorable position from a biblical perspective. This study employs a qualitative research approach using hermeneutical methods, conducting an exegesis of key Hebrew terms in Proverbs 31:10–31, alongside a literature study to enrich the contextual analysis. The findings reveal that women in Proverbs 31 are portrayed as economically independent individuals, possessing authority in managing household affairs, and deserving of recognition for their deeds and piety, rather than for physical attributes alone. The text affirms the excellence of women and asserts gender equality within the framework of Christian faith. The conclusion emphasizes the urgent need for a paradigm shift within the church and society to acknowledge and appreciate the role of women according to biblical values, by fostering active and equitable participation of women in all spheres of life.
