This study aims to examine the values of early Christian missions in Asia, such as inculturation and intercultural dialogue, and to analyze the urgency of contextual and transformative Christian Religious Education in responding to the realities of pluralism and the dynamics of education in Indonesia. This research is expected to provide conceptual contributions to the development of a CRE learning model that is more relevant to students’ lives and the needs of the contemporary church. The research method used is a literature study by reviewing various academic works related to contextual learning, inculturation of faith, cultural dialogue, and the professionalism of CRE teachers. The results show that contextual learning strategies in CRE can enhance faith understanding, learning engagement, and the integration of Christian values into students’ everyday lives. Furthermore, the integration of local culture, the use of participatory methods, and evaluation based on social transformation are crucial elements in strengthening the relevance of CRE amidst pluralism and the digital era. The conclusion emphasizes that CRE must move beyond mere knowledge transfer toward the formation of an authentic, reflective, and socially impactful faith through strengthening teacher competencies and designing learning experiences that are adaptive to local context and contemporary challenges. The study recommends developing a CRE curriculum rooted in cultural dialogue, active student participation, and collaboration with local communities as a concrete expression of living and transformative faith education.
