Integritas Konselor dalam Membangun Kepercayaan: Refleksi Teologi Pastoral atas Daniel 6:4

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Daniel’s integrity in Daniel 6:4 and reflect on its relevance to the development of pastoral counselors’ integrity in building trust with counselees. The study contributes theological and practical insights to the development of pastoral counselors’ character and ethics, particularly in maintaining trust, confidentiality, and healthy counseling boundaries. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach using a literature review and pastoral-hermeneutical reflection. Data were obtained from biblical texts, pastoral counseling books, pastoral theology literature, and scholarly articles related to integrity, ethics, trust, and pastoral counseling. The data were analyzed by examining the narrative context of Daniel 6, identifying Daniel’s character and actions in Daniel 6:4, interpreting their theological meaning, and contextualizing the findings within pastoral counseling ministry. The findings indicate that Daniel’s integrity reflects the unity of spiritual life, character, responsibility, and consistency of action, making him a trustworthy person. This reflection identifies four dimensions of pastoral counselors’ integrity: personal, relational, professional, and spiritual. The study concludes that integrity is a fundamental foundation for building counselees’ trust and should be demonstrated through consistent conduct, responsible confidentiality management, healthy relational boundaries, and counseling practices that adhere to professional competence and ethical principles.
